Top ten results for GRT Grasser Racing at the DTM finale in Hockenheim
- Four top-10 finishes at the penultimate DTM race weekend in Spielberg
- Jordan Pepper heads into the season finale as closest challenger in the drivers‘ championship
- Gottfried Grasser, GRT Team Principal: “We are now in a promising position for the finale.”

At the DTM finale at the Hockenheimring, the TGI Team Lamborghini by GRT supported by Automobili Lamborghini Squadra Corse fell short of its own expectations. While Luca Engstler finished the season with two top-ten results thanks to strong comebacks, title contender Jordan Pepper was unable to score any championship points in two eventful races. The DTM season finale at the Hockenheimring in Baden-Württemberg promised exciting races and a close championship decision in the run-up to the event. Jordan Pepper traveled to Hockenheim as one of the favorites for the title, just seven points behind the leader. Teammate Luca Engstler wanted to end the 2025 season with good results. In the first qualifying session, Jordan Pepper took 13th place on the grid in the Lamborghini Huracán GT3 Evo2 #63. Compared to some of his rivals for the championship, the South African secured a good starting position for Saturday’s race. The race started late behind the safety car due to poor weather conditions. Jordan Pepper had to retire from the race on the first lap after the restart due to contact with a competitor. This retirement saw Pepper slip from second to sixth in the championship standings, but he still had a theoretical chance of winning the title. Team-mate Luca Engstler started the race from 18th on the grid. Thanks to a clever pit stop strategy and strong laps, the young driver from the Allgäu region made up place after place in difficult conditions and crossed the finish line in ninth place overall. The final race of the season on Sunday was held in dry conditions. Starting eighth on the grid, Jordan Pepper was once again the best Lamborghini driver and wanted to keep his championship hopes alive with a good race. Pepper moved up to fourth place on the first lap before the safety car neutralized the race for the first time. After the first pit stop window, the #63 car was in sixth place and battling other championship contenders for the top positions. After the second mandatory pit stop, Pepper had moved up to fifth place, which he defended until the finish. However, the #63 car was subsequently disqualified from the race due to an infringement under yellow flags. As a result, despite strong performances on the final weekend, Jordan Pepper finished the 2025 DTM season in seventh place. The #19 Lamborghini Huracán GT3 Evo2 with Luca Engstler at the wheel also put in a strong performance in the second race of the weekend. Starting from 19th on the grid, Engstler repeated his comeback from the previous day and finished eighth overall. This gave Luca Engstler his best final result to date, with twelfth place in the championship standings. Grasser Racing also secured a strong result in the team standings with fifth place. The season finale of the GT World Challenge Europe powered by AWS Endurance Cup at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya is already coming up this weekend for the team and drivers.

Jordan Pepper: “Unfortunately, it was not the weekend we had hoped for. After practice, the team had to recover the car following an incident and did a great job. Overall, it was a difficult weekend with changing conditions. Due to the incident in the first race, I was unfortunately missing out on points. We tried everything again on Sunday, but unfortunately, we didn’t make it into the championship.
Nevertheless, I am very proud and grateful for what the team has achieved throughout the season. We can be very satisfied with what we have achieved. Many thanks to all our partners and the whole team
for this great season.”

Qualifying 1: P18 – Race 1: P9
Qualifying 2: P19 – Race 2: P8
Luca Engstler: “It was a weekend of ups and downs. Unfortunately, I struggled a bit to put together the perfect lap in qualifying. In the races, the team did a great job and came up with a good strategy that moved me up the field. That showed that we’ve made good progress in terms of performance stops and race pace. On the other hand, we obviously want to be in contention for podium places. I personally have learned a lot this season and I think we can achieve a lot together in this series in the future. I am very proud of what we have achieved this season.”
Gottfried Grasser, GRT team principal: “I am very proud of our drivers and the entire team for what they have achieved throughout the season. Due to the circumstances, it was very difficult for us to get to the top under our own power. Jordan’s incident in the first race was unfortunate, but of course everyone here tries to do their best. Nevertheless, he had an incredibly good season. Luca showed two strong races and got the most out of it. All in all, we can be very satisfied. The team has improved a lot over the season. To be honest, I didn’t expect us to be in contention for the championship until the last race. We can be proud of that. I also feel a little wistful: it was our last race with the Lamborghini Huracán in the DTM and in the ADAC environment, where we have been competing with this car for ten years. A big thank you also goes to all the team’s partners and friends who have supported us throughout the year.”
