24 Hours of Spa: GRT Grasser-Racing-Team and Lamborghini celebrate long-awaited maiden victory
- Mirko Bortolotti, Luca Engstler and Jordan Pepper win the world’s biggest GT3 race
- First ever Lamborghini victory at the 24-hour race of Spa-Francorchamps
- Gottfried Grasser, Team Principal GRT: „It’s an experience you’ll never forget for the rest of your life“

The GRT Grasser-Racing-Team claimed a historic triumph at the 77th edition of the CrowdStrike 24 Hours of Spa: Mirko Bortolotti, Luca Engstler and Jordan Pepper celebrated the Italian manufacturer’s long-awaited first overall victory in the world’s biggest GT3 race with the Lamborghini Huracán GT3 #63 after 549 laps. „We have already seen in the tests that we have a good package and have further optimised it in preparation,“ explains GRT Team Principal Gottfried Grasser.
Mirko Bortolotti started the race from 19th on the grid and was immediately able to assert himself in the leading group with the #63. „And from then on, it was a dream race for us,“ praised the team boss. „It was a race without a single mistake at the pit stops or with the drivers. We found our flow and then it just worked out.“ While many competitors were slowed down by mistakes, penalties or defects, Bortolotti, Engstler and Pepper were spared any setbacks. As the race progressed, the trio continuously pushed forwards – until the live timing finally showed them in the lead early on Sunday morning. In the final third of the race, pit strategy became a key factor. Here too, GRT always made the right tactical decisions and confidently defended its leading position right to the finish.
„I would like to thank the Lamborghini brand,“ says Gottfried Grasser. „But also thank you to the three drivers who achieved this incredible feat together. And to the entire team, which was running like clockwork for 24 hours. And, of course, to all the patrons and sponsors. Together, we have created an experience that you will never forget for the rest of your life.“
In 2015, exactly ten years ago, the Grasser Racing Team was the first Lamborghini factory team to enter two Huracán GT3s in the demanding endurance classic in the Belgian Ardennes. Even though neither of the two cars saw the chequered flag back then, the team from Styria was a permanent guest at the 24 Hours of Spa from then on. „We went through a ten-year period of suffering at Spa,“ recalls Gottfried Grasser. However, the team continued to develop steadily, which was ultimately reflected in the results at the Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps: GRT won the Silver Cup in 2023. In 2024, Franck Perera set a new lap record with the Lamborghini Huracán GT3 in Superpole and finished fifth in the race together with Marco Mapelli and Jordan Pepper – the best Lamborghini result at this event to date. The historic victory in one of the toughest races in the world in 2025 was the well-deserved reward for years of development work.
„This shows once again that you should never give up,“ summarises Gottfried Grasser, looking back on the beginnings of his team: „I started this project together with Mirko in 2015. It is therefore a special honour for me that we have now been able to experience this success together.“ And the collaboration with Lamborghini has also come full circle: „We won our debut race as Lamborghini factory team in Monza in 2015. The fact that we are now also winning the Spa 24 Hours in the very last year of the Huracán almost sounds like a fairy tale.“ The Huracán era ends for GRT as it began ten years ago: with an overall victory. A new chapter begins for the brand and team on 11 July. The new flagship, the Lamborghini Temerario GT3, will be unveiled at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.

Mirko Bortolotti: “Winning the Spa 24-hour race is simply an incredible moment. One that cannot be put into words. After the many setbacks in recent years and numerous lessons learnt, this victory is the result of our perseverance and exemplary teamwork. I am incredibly grateful that Gottfried has believed in me since 2015 and has allowed me to be part of this journey. I am more than proud of what we have achieved together. This was more than just a race, it was a statement. Thank you to my fellow drivers, the entire team and everyone who has supported us along the way.”
Luca Engstler: “I still have no words for what happened at the weekend. Winning the Spa 24 Hours is one of the biggest milestones you can achieve in GT racing. It’s not known as one of the toughest GT3 races in the world for nothing. This victory gives me a very good feeling. I am incredibly grateful for this opportunity. My thanks go to the entire team – from the management to the mechanics and, of course, to our partners, without whom such outings would not be possible.”
Jordan Pepper: “I am very proud of the entire team. The disappointment from last year, when we were unable to convert pole position into a win, has awakened even more passion and fighting spirit in us. We continued to grow this year and were more ready than ever before. That is the main reason why we ended up at the top of the podium. I am proud to be part of this moment and the victory. Every single team member worked tirelessly towards this. I am very happy that we finally made it. What other team apart from GRT could have made Lamborghini’s first Spa victory possible?”
